Why Rain Can Be a Blessing During a Home Inspection

The other day, I did a home inspection with my clients—and it was raining cats and dogs! 🐶🐱 We’re not talking a light sprinkle; it was a full-on downpour. While most would see that as bad luck, for us, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. 🙌

This particular home had skylights, which naturally raised concerns about potential leaks. But thanks to the heavy rain, we were able to see firsthand how well the home handled the weather. 🌧️ The skylights passed the test, and so did the rest of the house—no signs of water intrusion. Even more reassuring? The basement remained completely dry and leak-free. 💧✅ My clients walked away feeling confident and comforted by what could have otherwise been a worry.

Sure, rain isn't ideal when you’re trying to check out the roof or get a good look at the exterior, but it does provide valuable insight. 👀 It shows you how the eavestroughs are functioning, whether the downspouts are clogged, and where runoff is pooling on the property. These are things that are much harder to assess on a sunny day. ☀️

So the next time the weather doesn't cooperate for your home inspection, remember—it might just be giving you a clearer picture of how your future home handles Mother Nature. 🌦️🏡
