Every now and then, I take a step back and reflect on my journey in real estate. The homes, the deals, the milestones, and all the amazing people I have had the privilege of meeting along the way.
And you know what? Some of the moments that mean the most to me have absolutely nothing to do with a sale.
Last week, I met with a past client who I can honestly say has become a friend. She showed up with a gift that was so perfectly me that I couldn't help but smile. She is also one of those incredible people who is constantly cheering me on and promoting my business. I am so grateful for her, and for the genuine connection we have built.
Then, just last night, I received a phone call from another past client. We chatted about the market, a particular deal, and what was happening in real estate. Were they looking to buy or sell? Nope! They simply felt comfortable enough to pick up the phone and call me.
And I LOVE that.
I love the continued connection. I love hearing what is new in my clients' lives. I love that the relationship doesn't end when the keys are handed over or the paperwork is signed. Those little moments remind me just how lucky I am to do what I do.
And then there is another moment that happened a couple of weeks ago.
A past client reached out to let me know they had decided to use a lower-commission agent when selling their home. Now, some might think that is a strange thing to reach out to your previous REALTOR® about, but honestly? It meant a lot to me.
They didn't have to tell me. They could have simply moved forward with their decision. But they took the time to reach out, give me a heads-up, and have that conversation.
And that speaks volumes.
Let's be real. In this economy, no one, and I mean NO ONE, can blame someone for wanting to save a few dollars. Everyone has to do what is best for them and their family. There is absolutely no judgment here.
But the fact that they felt comfortable enough to reach out, and respected our relationship enough to let me know, warmed my heart.
Because that is what it is all about.
It is about building relationships where people feel comfortable being honest with you. Where they know they can call you with a question, share a life update, ask for advice, or simply say hello. Where the connection is genuine and not just about the next transaction.
I have met some truly wonderful people through this career. People who have become friends, supporters, and some of my biggest cheerleaders.
And I think there is something really special about that.
You often hear that you attract like-minded people, and I truly believe it. The kindness, the honesty, the humour, the trust, and the connections I have built over the years are things I will never take for granted.
So to my past clients who still call, text, share their lives, recommend me, cheer me on, or simply keep in touch…
Thank you. You have no idea how much it means to me.
Real estate has given me so much more than a career. It has given me friendships, memories, and connections that I will carry with me for years to come.
And honestly? I think that is one of the very best parts of this job. ❤️
